March 18, 2026

What is the opportunity?

Fair Patterns is at the forefront of fairness by design: Fair Patterns is a multimodal AI that scans sites, apps and social media to find and fix online manipulation at scale (dark patterns, addictive design, fake discounts, algorithmic pricing discrimination…). Our mission is to empower users to make their own, free and informed choices.

We serve innovative scaleups, Fortune500 groups and innovative law firms in the EU, the UK and the US.

We’re looking for a legal engineer intern to support the team, in particular as regards our AI solution to find and fix dark patterns.

Working with a wide variety of team members (the Gen AI team, designers, legal counsels…), you'll be at the heart of the team, helping to drive impactful work for a wide variety of EU and US customers. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the multi-disciplinary fields of human-centered legal innovation!

What will you be doing?

Our interns are able to work in many different capacities based on their interests and our needs at the time. For now, our primary focus for internships will be on Fair Patterns:

  • Further to onboarding and briefing, conducting dark patterns audits with our AI solution to provide detailed feedback and further train the tool
  • Support our R&D Lab in identifying legal obligations that apply to dark patterns around the world, and more generally digital obligations in jurisdictions we don’t yet cover
  • Conducting research on AI fairness, AI explainability and AI governance
  • Conducting research on any news (legislation, case law and studies) on deceptive design around the world

Work could also include:

  • Conduct legal research on our areas of expertise to keep the team updated
  • Learn and help with translating complex legal language into plain language
  • Help with legal administrative and organizational tasks

What are the benefits?

  • A hands-on, unique opportunity to learn and practice user-centric law, legal innovation by design and fight against dark patterns: having a real positive impact
  • You can work remotely from a place that does not have more than 2 hours of difference with CET and/or at our office if you’re in Paris
  • Monthly internship payment based on experience and French law

Your profile

  • Legal background with a strong knowledge and understanding of privacy, consumer protection and digital laws
  • Strong experience in legal research
  • AI and tech savvy, at ease with AirTable
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
  • Self-starter who is ready to learn, adapt, and take initiative
  • Great attention to detail
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university, or recently graduated (within the year), able to provide an internship agreement (convention de stage)
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Available for a 6 month internship from July to December

Sound like you?

Great, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch by sending your CV and motivation to marie@fairpatterns.ai Make sure your letter or message to us includes:

  • What area you are interested in (project management, legal, or both)
  • Whether you meet the requirements listed in the “Your profile” section
